JACK WARNER. Signature: "Jack Warner.", 6¼x5¼ album leaf. With separate leaf with imprinted name and captioned photograph, b/w with brown hue, 1¼x2, of Warner. British actor Jack Warner (1895-1981), born Horace John Waters, is best known for playing George Dixon in the TV series, Dixon of Dock Green (1955-1976). The character was first featured in the 1950 film, The Blue Lamp, but was killed off after 21 minutes; Warner's TV role lasted for 21 years. Warner, who had made his film debut in The Dummy Talks (1943), went on to appear in a number of feature films, including the Huggetts series (1947-1949), Scrooge (1951), Bang, You're Dead (1954), The Ladykillers (1955), Jigsaw (1962) and Dominique (1978). In addition to Dixon of Dock Green, Warner also appeared in The Centre Show (1950-1953), and he made two guest appearances on A Christmas Night With the Stars (1958, 1970). In 1965, Warner was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to drama. Lightly creased. Slightly faded. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book.
