Jackée Harry (b. 1956) became bored with her career as a history teacher at Brooklyn Technical High School and turned to the New York theater scene for amusement.She made her TV debut in the soap Another World (1983-1986). Then came 99 episodes of 227 (1985-1990) and 119 episodes of Sister, Sister (1994-1999). (She also directed 4 episodes of the latter). More recently, she appeared in 25 episodes of Everybody Hates Chris (2006-2009). From 1985 through 2009, Jackée appeared as herself on many game shows and talk shows, from The $10,000 Pyramid (1973-1981) to Late Night With David Letterman (1993-2015). She played opposite Oprah Winfred in The Women of Brewster Place and won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1987. Harry played Billie Holiday on stage in Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill in 1994. She is anational spokesperson for the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund and supports the United Negro College Fund. Lightly toned. Pencil notes in an unknown hand on verso.
