JACKIE COOPER and DIXIE DUNBAR
Both sign a response card at the performance of another
entertainer.
Printed Card signed in pencil: "Jackie/Cooper", "Dixie
Dunbar", 4x5 card. Printed question card from the Club Lamaze, Hollywood
California, in connection with an appearance there of Myrus - the Wizard of
Mental Telepathy. Elsie Myrus, the wife of that performer, collected autographs
from celebrities attending his shows. Child film star JACKIE
COOPER (1922-2011) appeared first in Hal Roach's "Our Gang" comedies, then
earned an Oscar nomination as Skippy (1931). He co-starred with
Wallace Beery in several films of the 1930s, including The Champ and
Treasure Island. As an adult, his film opportunities diminished, but
Cooper had two hit TV series in the 1950s, The People's Choice and
Hennessy. He won an Emmy (1973) for directing episodes of
M*A*S*H. Cooper played newspaper editor Perry White in all four of
the Christopher Reeves Superman movies (1981-1987). He also produced
several TV programs. Diminutive dancer/entertainer DIXIE DUNBAR
(1919-1991) starred in Broadway and film musicals (Pigskin Parade,
Alexander's Ragtime Band) of the late 1930s, preferring the stage in the
1940s. From 1949 to 1951, she was the dancing Old Gold cigarette pack in
TV commercials. Lightly toned and worn at corners. Fine
condition.
