JACKIE GLEASON and BLAKE EDWARDS
Both sign this contract agreeing that if changes need to be made regarding the actors or directors for the motion picture in question that they must be submitted for review
Contract signed: "Jackie Gleason" and "Blake Edwards" as Producer for Cedars Productions, both 2p, separate sheets, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1962 August 8. Memorandum of Agreement dated July 17, 1962 between Gleason and Cedars-Solar Productions is amended to reflect possible changes of Blake Edwards as Director and Steve McQueen as Actor, and sets forth the daily schedule. Although he first performed in vaudeville, nightclubs, film and on Broadway, Jackie Gleason (1916-1987) found enduring fame on television. After first appearing in The Life of Riley, the rotund comedian starred on The Jackie Gleason Show, where he created such legendary characters as Ralph Kramden (the bus driver on The Honeymooners segment of the show), Reggie Van Gleason and Joe the Bartender. As a result of the comedic talents he displayed on TV, he became known as "The Great One." He returned to films in 1960, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Minnesota Fats in The Hustler (1961). Screenwriter and director Blake Edwards (1922-2010), born William Blake McEdwards, is known for successful films such as The Days of Wine and Roses (1962), The Pink Panther films (from 1964), 10 (1979) and Victor/Victoria (1982), for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He was also nominated as Best Director by the Directors Guild of America for the Academy Award-winning film, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Several of his films have starred his second wife, singer and actress Julie Andrews, to whom he has been married since 1969. On February 29, 2004, Edwards received an honorary Academy Award for his life's work.Staple holes at top blank margin. Soiled and creased at bottom margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
