Winfred Jacqueline Fraser Bisset in Weybridge, England in 1944, is an
Emmy-nominated English actress. Bisset became a photo model at 18 and, by
the 1960s, was a bit player in English films like The Knack... and How to Get
It (1965), often in sexy roles. She became a star based on her performance
as Giovanni Goodthighs in Casino Royale (1967) and in a tiny role in
Two for the Road (1967), where she played a schoolgirl with a sudden case
of the measles and that made the rest of the movie's plot possible. She moved to
Hollywood and, by 1970, had leading roles in some major productions.
Originally groomed as a starlet in Hollywood, her acting style matured as she
did. Her films include Bullitt (1968), The Life and Times of Judge Roy
Bean (1972), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Deep
(1977), Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978), When Time
Ran Out (1980), Under the Volcano (1984), Scenes from the Class
Struggle in Beverly Hills (1989), Wild Orchid (1990) and The
Sleepy Time Gal (2001), and she was nominated for an Emmy for her
performance as Isabelle D'Arc in the 1999 miniseries Joan of Arc.
