Jacques Demers (b. 1944) was a head coach in the Western Hockey League and National Hockey League, winning the Jack Adams award as coach of the year twice with the Detroit Red Wings (1988, 1989). He was an on-air commentator for the Montreal Canadiens before being appointed by Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper to fill a vacant seat in the Canadian Senate. Demers, who is fluent in both English and French but functionally illiterate, intends to raise awareness of literacy issues in the Senate. Irregularly cut at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
