Rare signed photograph (4x5) of the French actor who plays Paris in Helen of Troy
Photograph signed: "Jacques Sernas", in black ink, B/w 4x5. Jacques Sernas (b. 1925) is a French actor best known for his film roles of the 1950's and 1960's. Born in Lithuania but educated in France, Sernas joined the French resistance during World War II and was captured by German forces. He was imprisoned for a year at Buchenwald, and upon being released, briefly studied medicine. It was during his studies that he first became interested in acting, with his debut being a minor role in the 1947 film Miroir. This was followed by a leading role in Il falco rosso (1949). His most popular role was in the 1956 film Helen of Troy (1956) as Paris, which proved popular to audiences but gave the actor little attention. He fared better overseas, continuing to perform in roles until his last role in 2006 in Papa Luciani - Il sorriso di Dio. Corners slightly worn and creased. Slightly toned. Light surface creases and dents (not seen head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
