Autograph Note signed (in French, translated): "To Miss/Zoe
Monteiro/For remembrance/Jacques Thibaud/Rio de Janeiro/28 June 1930", 4½x3½
album leaf. French violinist Jacques Thibaud (1880-1953) was known for his
performances of Mozart, Beethoven and 19th century French works. In 1905, he
formed a trio with cellist Pablo Casals and pianist Alfred Cortot. Injured
in combat during World War I, Thibaud had to undergo intense physical therapy to
regain his skills. He was killed in an Alpine plane crash while flying to
perform for French troops in Indo-China. Toned. Left edge frayed from binding.
