JAKE "THE RAGING BULL" LaMOTTANote from the boxer in blue ink written on a decorative card Printed Card signed in Ink: "Best Wishes/ Sherry & Sy/ Raging Bull/ Jake LaMotta", 5x3 autograph card with ornate border. Nicknamed the "Bronx Bull" because of his aggressive, charging style, Jake LaMotta (b. 1921) reached prominence when he won a 10-round decision over Sugar Ray Robinson on February 5, 1943. He and Robinson fought six times, with LaMotta winning only that one bout. On June 16, 1949, LaMotta won the World Middleweight Championship. He defended his title twice, losing it when Robinson knocked him out in the 13th round on February 14, 1951. LaMotta won 83 fights, 30 by knockout, and lost 19, four by knockout (with four draws). He co-authored his autobiography, Raging Bull (1970), which was adapted as a 1981 movie starring Robert DeNiro. LaMotta was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990.
