Pritned Photograph signed in Ink: "Best Wishes/ Jake LaMotta" B/w, 3½x5½. Captioned at lower margin: "Jake La Motta/ Middleweight Champion of the World/ Mgr: Joe La Motta [telephone number]". Not stamped or filled in on verso. Nicknamed the "Bronx Bull" because of his aggressive, charging style, Jake "The Raging Bull" LaMotta (1921-2017) achieved prominence when he won a 10-round decision over Sugar Ray Robinson on February 5, 1943. He and Robinson fought six times, with LaMotta winning only that one bout. On June 16, 1949, LaMotta won the World Middleweight Championship. He defended his title twice, losing it when Robinson knocked him out in the 13th round on February 14, 1951. LaMotta won 83 fights, 30 by knockout, and lost 19, four by knockout (with four draws). He co-authored his autobiography, Raging Bull (1970), which was adapted into the 1981 film starring Robert DeNiro. LaMotta was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990. Minor surface creases and scratches (most not evident head-on). Lightly soiled at blank margins and background. Tack holes at corners. Mounting remnants and glue stains on verso (no show-through). Otherwise, fine condition.
