JAKE "THE SNAKE" ROBERTS
Large signed 16x20 color photo of Roberts in Andre the Giant's clutches
Photograph signed "Jake/Snake/Roberts" in silver ink. Color, 20x16. Accompanied by: Small unsigned color photo of Roberts signing this or a similar photograph, captioned across front "Property of/Authentic Signings, Inc." Both photos have holographic authentication labels. Roberts feuded with Andre the Giant in the early 1990s. Roberts, born Aurelian Smith, Jr. in 1955, is an American professional wrestler. He's probably known best for his two stints in the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) between 1986 and 1992 and between 1996 and 1997, though he began wrestling in 1975 and has performed in the United States and Mexico. His nickname comes from his thin build. He would often slither into the ring and, once he entered the WWF in 1986, began bringing a live Burmese python named Damien with him to the ring. Roberts would drape this snake over his defeated opponents, who would then begin to twitch and foam at the mouth as if they were being choked to death. (Damien was replaced by an even larger reticulated python named Lucifer after Earthquake "squashed" the bag that Roberts carried Damien in) He claims to have invented the DDT hold during a botched in-ring move against The Grappler, a claim that's disputed. Roberts hurt his neck when the Honky Tonk Man hit him with a non-breakaway guitar during Wrestlemania; he had to take painkillers for this injury, and it led to an addiction to opiates that damaged his career. Fine condition.
