Typed letter signed: "James A. Farley", in green ink, 1 page, 8x10½. Included is the original mailing envelope. June 1, 1936. Washington, D.C. Office of the Postmaster General. In full: "My dear Mrs. DeLahoyde: The receipt is acknowledged of your letter of May 21, requesting that certain stamps included in an order which you sent to the Philatelic Agency be autographed. The records here show that this order was dispatched to you under date of May 23. Thanking you for your interest in writing to me, I am Sincerely yours". James A. Farley (1888-1976) was appointed Chairman of the Democratic National Committee (1932) and Postmaster-General (1933), holding both posts until disagreeing with FDR about running for a third term in 1940. Farley resigned both positions in 1940 but remained Chairman of the Party in New York State (1930-1944). He later served as President of Coca-Cola Export Corporation. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
