MacKinley Kantor won in 1956 for Andersonville. Allen Drury won in 1960 for Advise and Consent. Shirley Ann Grau won in 1965 for The Keepers of the House. Katherine Anne Porter won in 1966 for Collected Stories of Katherine Anne Porter. Bernard Malamud won in 1967 for The Fixer. William Styron won in 1968 for The Confessions of Nat Turner. N. Scott Momaday won in 1969 for House Made of Dawn. Robert Penn Warren, who won the 1947 Pulitzer Prize for Novel for All the King's Men, also won Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry in 1958 (Promises: Poems, 1954-1956) and 1979 (Now and Then: Poems, 1976-1978).
