Original Art, unsigned, 22¾x17¼. Women Held Captive, oil on
Masonite by James Alfred Meese, used to illustrate a paperback novel of the same
name. James Alfred Meese (1917-1971) painted scenes used to illustrate
men's magazines and paperback novels. His artwork usually featured shapely
women. Some of the book titles graced with James Meese cover art were, Bad
Girls, Widow's Pique and A Bullet for My Love. Corners and
edges worn. Paint cracked. Edges worn. Lightly toned near top margin. Otherwise,
fine condition.
