The American Western author signs his name on this handwritten letter
from 1940
Autograph letter signed: "Sincerely/James. W. Bellah", in
black ink, 7x10½, 1 page, personal letterhead, New York City. Dated July 30,
1940. In part: "...I had to bid behind a red board for a lady's saddle
[illegible] the other day- but I got it at my price. But thanks." James
Bellah (1899-1976) was an American author who was known for his American
Western, involving pulp-fiction writings on cavalry and Indians. He authored 19
novels, including: The Valiant Virginian, Blood
River, and The Gods of Yesterday. Several of his novels
and short stories were later turned into popular television shows and films,
such as Fort Apache and The Man Who Shot Liberty
Vance. Edges lightly toned. Slight horizontal creases from folding. Fine
condition.
