Shown as a gunslinger in a movie still from Firecreek
Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: " James/Best". B/w, 10x8. Shown in publicity still for the film Firecreek (1968). James Best (1926-2015) played character parts, often a bad guy, in many film Westerns, including Seven Angry Men (1955), Ride Lonesom (1959) and Firecreek (1968). But he could also play other roles, including a psychiatrist in Three on a Couch (1966) and a cross-dresser in Ode to Billy Joe (1976). He made many TV guest appearances, but may be best remembered from his role as Sheriff Rosco Coltrane from The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985), engaged in countless unsuccessful car chases. Best is a cousin of the 1950s rockabilly duo, Don and Phil Everly. In Firecreek (1968), Best played a gunman in the hire of Henry Fonda, terrorizing a town protected by peaceful sheriff James Stewart. Pin size holes at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
