He was married to actress Mary Carlisle from 1942 until his death. Blakeley trained US Army pilots during World War II and worked briefly after the war as General Manager for (friend) Elizabeth Arden's cosmetics firm. Then he returned to the movie business as a film editor, working at Fox studios until days before his death. Blakeley edited many well-known films, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Patton. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Corners worn and creased. Lightly toned around edges.
