JAMES “BONECRUSHER” SMITH
The heavyweight champion boxer and minister signs this black and white photograph showing him holding a championship belt
Inscribed photograph signed: “Jan 8, 2009/To William/James BoneCrusher Smith/World/Bosing/Heavyweight/Champion/1986” in black felt. 8x10. James "Bone Crusher" Smith (b. 1953) scored a first round knockout of Tim Witherspoon to win the WBA heavyweight title in 1986, but lost the crown the next year to Mike Tyson by decision. He had fought undefeated Larry Holmes in a tough battled for the IBF crown in 1984, losing in the twelfth round by TKO. After retiring from the ring with a 44-17-1 record (32 knockouts), Smith became an ordained minister, pledging to devote his life to helping street kids stay off drugs. Corners rounded. Top left corner creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
