Autograph Note Signed: “To Henry/Best wishes/James Bridges” in black felt tip. 8x9½. James Bridges (1936-1993) was an American screenwriter, fil director, actor and producer who had his start as a writer for Alfred Hitchcock Presents after catching the attention of Norman Lloyd, a producer for the series; the episode An Unlocked Window, earned him a 1966 Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America for Best Episode in a TV Series. Later, James wrote and directed some notable films, such as: The Baby Maker, The Paper Chase, September 30, 1955, The China Syndrome, Urban Cowboy, Mike's Murder, Perfect, Bright Lights and Big City. He was a mentor of actress Debra Winger and from 1958 until his death, the life partner of actor Jack Larson. The James bridges Theater at University of California, Los Angeles was named in his honor in November 1999; he had been a faculty member there at the beginning of his career.
