Black and white inscribed photograph of a scene from The Public Enemy by Mae Clarke and James Cagney signs a card. Both have been attractively framed together.
Comprises (1) Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Joseph Fricelli/Best Wishes/Mae Clarke/1981".  B/w, 9x6½. Fine condition. Still from the 1931 film The Public Enemy. James Cagney (1899-1986), the ruthless Prohibition gangster in the Warner Brothers production of The Public Enemy(1931), slaps Mae Clarke, his moll, in the face with a grapefruit. The scene and the film made Cagney a star bringing him other roles in crime-oriented dramas. Cagney began his career on Broadway and made his film debut in Simmers' Holiday(1930). The song-and-dance man George M. Cohan chose Cagney to portray him in Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942); it was the right choice, winning Cagney an Academy Award and the film much acclaim. Mae Clarke made her film debut in Big Time(1929) and starred in the 1931 films The Front Page and Frankenstein  Two items. Framed to an overall size of 15¼x24.
