JAMES CROMWELL
Vintage b/w agent's photo of Oscar-nominated actor James Cromwell
Inscribed photograph signed "For Trina/All the best/James Cromwell". 8½x10¾, with three binder holes at left edge. Captioned: "James Cromwell". Photo by William D. Cunningham & Associates, Inc. of Los Angeles, California. With short bio and three smaller photos of Cromwell in costume on verso. Tall and lean, Cromwell, born in Los Angeles, California in 1940, got his start on the stage, including two appearances on Broadway in Othello (1970) and Hamlet (1992). He has almost 140 films and TV shows to his credit as well, starting with a 1974 appearance on The Rockford Files. Most of his Hollywood appearances were on the small screen until the 1990s, when he starred as farmer Arhtur Hoggett from the animatronic and CGI-laden children's movie Babe(1994), a role that earned him a Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. This helped to launch Cromwell's movie career; almost all of his starring appearances, including the corrupt police captain Dudley Smith in L. A. Confidential (1997). Star Trek fans may recognize Cromwell as Zephram Cochrane, the selfish and frowsy scientist who invented warp drive, from Star Trek: First Contact(1996). Lightly toned and creased. Tape residue and paper loss in top left and bottom right corners. Light tears along right edge. Lightly worn and creased bottom corners. Otherwise in fine condition.
