Signature: "James D Hodgson/Secy of Labor/1970-1973/Ambassador/to Japan/1974-77", 5x3 index card. Hodgson, (1915-2012), was Vice President for Industrial Relations at Lockheed before being appointed President Richard Nixon's Secretary of Labor (1970-1973). During his tenure, Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act, which greatly expanded the responsibilities and power of the federal Department of Labor. He also expanded employment and training programs through the Emergency Employment Act of 1971 to prevent a recession in the wake of the Vietnam War. President Gerald Ford appointed Hodgson Ambassador to Japan (1974-1977). Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
