Contract signed: "James Darren", blue ink, 1 page 8½x14. Executed copy of the American Guild of Variety Artists contract covering Darren's engagement with the Atlantic City Steel Pier included (2 pages). Atlantic City, 8 June 1962. M C A Artists LTD. Agency contract between them and James Ecolani Jr. pka James Darren, by which Darren is bound to appear at the Atlantic City Steel Pier and perform as a vocalist for the period of 6 days with a maximum of 26 shows commencing on July 16, 1962 , for the payment of exactly $5,000. Darren is to receive 100% sole star billing in any and all advertising. The contract also explicitly states that "Wherever possible, in any advertising the following must be included: James Darren starring in the forthcoming Columbia picture Diamond Head." In 1956, 20-year-old James Darren's (b.1936) movie debut was as the star of Rumble on the Docks, which also starred Robert Blake. Darren was also Moondoggie in three Gidget movies (1959, 1961, 1963). In 1961, Darren recorded "Goodbye Cruel World" which rose to #3 on the charts. As a recording star, he also reached the Top 40 in 1967 with "All" and hit the charts in 1977 with "You Take My Heart Away". Darren starred in two TV series, Time Tunnel (1966-1967) and T. J. Hooker (1982-1986) and co-starred on Star Trek Deep Space Nine as hologram crooner Vic Fontaine (1998-1999), reprising songs from the series on his 1999 album, This One's From the Heart. He also starred as Tony Marlin on Melrose Place in 1999. Staple holes at top left edge. Creased and toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
