Document signed: "James Darren," in blue ink, 1 page, 8½x11. New York City, 8 August 1958. News Syndicate Co. Inc.  To "Gentlemen," in full: "In consideration of the publicity to be given to me and which may arise herefrom, my consent is hereby irrevocably given to you, your assignees and licensees, and to the Chicago-Tribune-New York News Syndicate, Inc., and its subscribers and licensees, to use my name, picture, or portrait in publications for editorial or promotional purposes, excluding, however, commercial advertising. Very truly yours." Actor/singer James Darren (1936-2024) emerged as a youthful star in films as diverse as The Brothers Rico (1957), The Guns of Navarone (1961) and the series of Gidget movies (1959-1963). Darren had one more regular role in a series, T. J. Hooker (1982-1986), after that contenting himself with directing stints and with recurring guest roles on such series as Melrose Place, Star Trek and Deep Space Nine). In the 1960s, Darren recorded a few hits aimed at his teen audience, notably "Goodbye Cruel World" (1961). Lightly toned. Corners lightly creased. Pencil note (unknown hand) beneath signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
