film Soul Man, a romantic comedy in which Jones plays a Harvard Professor. James Earl
Jones (1931-2024) was originally a stage actor, winning Tony Awards for The Great White
Hope (1969) and Fences (1987). He was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award
(1971) for reprising The Great White Hope on film. In 1991, he won both a Best Actor
and Best Supporting Actor Emmy for Gabriel's Fire and Heat Wave, and in 1999 for
Outstanding Performer Children's Special. Jones' sonorous and highly recognizable voice
served both Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy and was Mufasa in Disney's
The Lion King (1994) and has been featured in more than twenty films and as many
commercial announcements such as "This is CNN". In 2001, Jones narrated the documentary
Black Indians: An American Story which explores issues of mixed racial identity - Jones is of
African American, AmerAmerican Indian (Choctaw) and Irish decent. He was awarded
the John F. Kennedy Centre Honor in 2002. Fine condition.
