in black ink, b/w, 8x10. James Earl Jones (1931-2024) was originally a stage actor, winning
Tonys for The Great White Hope (1969) and Fences (1987). He was nominated for a
Best Actor Academy Award (1971) for reprising his role in the film version of The
Great White Hope (1970). In 1991, he won both a Best Actor and Best Supporting
Actor Emmy for Gabriel's Fire and Heat Wave, and in 1999 he won for Outstanding
Performer- Children's Special. Jones lent his sonorous and highly-recognizable voice to the
character of Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy and the character of Mufasa
in Disney's The Lion King (1994). He has been featured in more than twenty films and in just
as many commercial announcements. In 2001, Jones narrated the documentary Black
Indians: An American Story, which explored issues of mixed racial identity, a fitting
contribution as Jones is of African-American, American Indian (Choctaw), and Irish decent. He
was awarded John F. Kennedy Center Honors in 2002. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
