JAMES ELLIS
Actor James Ellis signed this letter, typed on BBC-TV letterhead, to thank the recipient for his letter about his performance on the BBC series One By One.
Typed letter signed "James Ellis" in blue ink. 1 page, 5¾x8¼, on BBC-TV letterhead. Addressed to Peter McGrath, Tratmore, County Waterford, Ireland. In full: "Dear Peter Thank you for your nice letter about 'One by One', and I am pleased you have enjoyed the series so much. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with all the animals. I enclose a signed photograph. With best wishes, Yours sincerely, (James Ellis)". Northern Irish stage and screen actor Ellis, born in 1931, has appeared in almost 70 movies and TV shows since 1958, including recurring roles as Bert Lynch on Z Cars (1962-1968), Paddy Reilly on One by One (1984-1987), Michael on In Sickness and In Health (1992), Sarge on Nightingales (1990-1993), Vincent Dempsey on Big Bad World (1999), Uncle Minto on Ballykissangel (1998-1999) and Mr. Mullen on Playing the Field (1998-2002). Ellis is also an author and poet, and a collection of stories that he translated from French were broadcast on BBC radio in 2007. Doctor Who fans may recognize him as Peter Warmsly from the 1989 three-parter Battlefield. Lightly toned and creased, otherwise in fine condition.
