Typed letter signed "James Franciscus". 1p, 6x9. Beverly Hills, Calif., 1964 November 7. On imprinted personal letterhead to Miss Sandra Prince, Coleman Junior High School, Brooklyn, N. Y. In full: "Dear Sandra: Thank you so much for your recent letter and your kind comments concerning 'Mr. Novak'. I am sorry that my shooting schedule does not allow me the time it would take for a trip such as you suggested. However, please accept my thanks for thinking of me in this connection. Please, also, convey my thanks to your fellow students at Coleman Junior High. With best wishes, I remain Sincerely yours". Franciscus was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor (TV) in 1964 for his role as high school teacher John Novak. That year, he also appeared in the feature film, Youngblood Hawke. American actor Franciscus (1934-1991) starred in several TV series, most notably Naked City (1958-1963), Mr. Novak (in which he played a young high school teacher, 1963-1965) and Longstreet (1971-1972). His feature film credits include The Outsider (1961), Youngblood Hawke (1964), Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) and the voice the title character in Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1973). Lightly creased. Paper clip impressions and stains at upper left margin, slightly soiled at upper right margin. Fine condition.
