In the 2006 film Lonely Hearts Gandolfini played Charles Hildebrandt, a homicide detective, who with his partner (played by John Travolta) looks for two murderers. The film is based on a true story about the 1940's "Lonely Hearts Killers". James Gandolfini (1961-2013) won three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Actor (2000, 2001, 2003) and was nominated for another (1999) for his portrayal of mafia boss Tony Soprano in the award-winning HBO series, The Sopranos. He also won a Golden Globe for the role in 2000 and was nominated in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Gandolfini, who made his Broadway debut in the 1992 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire, has appeared in a number of feature films, including The Mexican, 8MM, A Civil Action, The Mighty, Night Falls on Manhattan (with future The Soprano's cast mate Dominic Chianese), The Juror, Get Shorty and Crimson Tide, and the made-for-TV movie, 12 Angry Men.
