Signature: "J. H. D. Henderson", 3¼x2 card. James H. D. Henderson (1810-1885) left Missouri because it allowed slavery, leading his family on a 6-month journey on the Oregon Trail to settle in Oregon Territory in 1852. A farmer, pastor and publisher, Henderson was elected as a Republican to the US House of Representative (1865-1867). He served on the special committee overseeing President Lincoln's funeral. Top right corner clipped. Toned. Stained on bottom margin. Corners slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
