Bayside, N.Y., no date. To Bill. In full: "So glad to hear from
you but of course sorry you are so ill. We are just a couple of old stiffs and
glad to be alive. Hope we are up and around soon Bill. I got a little setback
going to the fight other night but feel better today. When we are able to
get around must get together and talk things over. Vera joins me in best to you
Bill." "Gentleman Jim" Corbett (1866-1933) has been called the "Father of
Modern Boxing" because of his innovations in fighting style. In the fight

Heavyweight Champion John L. Sullivan in 21 rounds on September 7, 1892 in New
Orleans to win the title, losing it to Bob Fitzsimmons in 1897. Lightly creased
and soiled. Overall, fine condition.
