JAMES ELLISON
5½x7 sepia photograph, shown in western garb
Photograph signed: "Sincerely/James Ellison", Sepia 5½x7. James "Jimmy" Ellison (1910-1993) got his start in stock theatre and made his big screen bow in 1932. He developed into a light leading man of B-movies, usually Westerns, before moving to low-cost second features in the 1950s. Fans of Hopalong Cassidy may remember him as sidekick Johnny Nelson, a role he assayed in Hopalong Cassidy Enters (1935) and for the next two years. Ellison appeared in 70 movies between 1932 and 1952 before trying his luck at real estate. He returned to films only once after that, for 1962's When the Girls Take Over. Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
