Check signed: "James Stewart" in black ink. 8½x3½. July 20,
1981. Check no. 19240 drawn from the account of James Stewart at United
California Bank in Beverley Hills, California. Payable for $11.70 to the Indian
Head Water Company (not endorsed on verso). James Stewart (1908-1997,
born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the
American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor
Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story,and he was
nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to
Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950)
and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary
Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You
(1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth
(1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957),
Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Edges perforated.
Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Ink bank stamps throughout. Ink notes in
unknown hand in bottom margin. Slightly smeared (but not on signature).
