(3) Photograph, unsigned. B/w, 8x10. 8x10. Depicts Allyson and Stewart in their roles in the film. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners, light black mark at upper right corner. Minor surface scratches (not evident head on). Fine condition. The 1955 Academy Award-winning biography of bandleader Glenn Miller starred Stewart as Miller and Allyson as his wife, Helen Berger Miller.JAMES STEWART (1908-1997) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You, Destry Rides Again, Rear Window, Vertigo, The Spirit of St. Louis, The Greatest Show on Earth and a long list of other features. Frequently portraying wholesome girls-next-door and perfect wives, JUNE ALLYSON (1917-2006) made more than a score of films for MGM, most often in musicals and comedies. In addition to this movie, she co-starred with James Stewart in other films including The Stratton Story (1949) and Strategic Air Command (1955). Allyson hosted her own dramatic anthology TV series from 1959-1961, and remained active in film character roles, TV guest appearances and commercials. Three items.
