JAMES STEWART
Oscar-winning actor James Stewart signed this document in Beverly Hills, California in 1967, amending a will that he signed in 1966.
Document signed "James Stewart" in black ink and by three witnesses in blue ink. 2 pages, 8¼x12¾, single-sided sheets. Beverly Hills, California, March 22, 1967. Second codicil to Stewart's Jan. 6, 1966 will. In this codicil, he replaced a paragraph with language about where his estate will go if any of his beneficiaries die before him and leave no children and have no brother or sister. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features.
