Addressed to Mr. James Stewart, c/o Universal Pictures Company, Inc., Universal City, California. Stewart signed this to confirm anamendment to a contract that he signed to appear in Moonlight Serenade, better known as The Glenn Miller Story (1954), with Stewart in the title role. Stewart (1908-1997, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Lightly toned, creased and rippled. Notary stamp touches signatures of Universal Pictures representatives but not Stewart's signature. Two file holes near top edge. Staple holes near upper left corner. Otherwise in fine condition.
