STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND: JAMES STEWART
James Stewart signs a document to star in Strategic Air Command.
Typed Document Signed: "James Stewart", 59p, 8½x11. No place, 1953 August 10. Paramount Pictures hires James Stewart "to act, play and perform the leading male role in the motion picture photoplay tentatively entitled STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND...." Stewart's salary will be "a sum equal to fifty percent (50%) of the net profits (as hereinafter defined) if any, derived by the Corporation from the distribution of the Photoplay (and subject to the terms and conditions hereof)...." Covers lightly creased, worn at edges. Upper right corner of front cover has been neatly trimmed away. Back cover lightly soiled. Accompanied by two unsigned b/w photographs, 8x10 and 10x8, picturing publicity events for the film. One is lightly creased at upper blank margin, the other is lightly creased at lower blank margin and has pinhole-size impressions at upper background. Inspired in part by the true story of baseball great Ted Williams who, after serving in WWII was called from the reserves to serve in the Korean War, Strategic Air Command stars James Stewart as Dutch Holland, a star third baseman with the St. Louis Cardinals. Dutch, who served with distinction as a fighter pilot during WWII, is called back to duty after the Air Force added new jets to their arsenal and needed experienced men to fly them. Three items.
