James Stewart signed this undated document to give his permission to use his name and likeness to promote a 1947 radio program in return for $4,000. Also signed by Stewart's agent Douglas Whitney and Robert Redd of McKee & Albright, Inc.
Carbon copy document signed "Robert W Redd" as representative of McKee & Albright, Inc. in black ink, "Douglas Whitney" in blue ink as Agent with MCA Artists, Ltd. and "James Stewart" in blue ink as Artist. 1 page, 8¼x10¾, thin paper. Stewart signed this document to give McKee & Albright and Sealtest, Inc. permission to use his name and likeness in advertising for an unnamed radio program, which was to be broadcast on Dec. 4, 1947, in return for $5,000. Stewart (1908-1997, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story,and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Lightly toned, creased and rippled. Two file holes near top edge. Staple holes along left edge. Tape repair and residue in upper left corner. Light nicks in upper left corner. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
