Magazine advertisement from an unknown magazine for Bill Wilder's Spirit of St. Louis (1957), which starred Stewart as Charles A. Lindbergh. Captioned: "The screen has never come so close to the heart of a man!/The most deeply moving personal adventure of our time/becomes one of the great motion pictures of all time!/James Stewart in the most versatile/role of his career, as Charles A. Lindbergh". James "Jimmy" Stewart (1908-1997, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Lightly toned, soiled, stained and creased. Neatly torn from magazine at left edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
