Promissory note from Stewart to pay United California Bank the sum of $98,750.00 at the rate of 6½% per annum until paid, in regards to loan number 110-43134. James "Jimmy"Stewart (1908-1997, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can't Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Binding holes on top margin and bottom left corner. Slightly toned. Light surface creases. Corners slightly worn and creased, esp. bottom left corner. Top edge slightly frayed. Ink and pencil notes (unknown hand). Staples on left margin. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
