Typed Letter Signed: "Jimmy Stewart" on verso of 5½x3¼ postal card. 1-cent postal card with 2-cent John Adams stamp affixed, postmarked Los Angeles, Calif., December 22, 1947. To Muriel Williams, Nottingham, England (typed address on front). In full: "Thanks for the fine Christmas cards to me and Miss Lowry. Hope the Christmas season will be a grand one in your home, with happiness to spare. Sincerely". In the year he signed this postcard, Stewart appeared in one film, Magic Town. James "Jimmy" Stewart (1908-1997) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984. Lightly creased at blank corners. Lightly soiled, postal markings at upper blank margin. Overall, fine condition.
