JAMES JONES. TLS: "Jim". 1p, 8¼x10½.
Paris, 1970 September 17. To Herman Kogen, Chicago
Sun-Times, Chicago. The author of From Here to Eternity writes, in
part: "My publisher wants me to make up a list of
friends to whom they can send bound galleys of my new book on the May 1968 Paris
'Revolution', which will be coming out in March of next year...The publisher's
idea is that if I send a few copies to friends of mine who read it and liked it,
they might talk it up. So if you'd like to have the bound galleys, drop me a
line. Hell, I'm not even sure you're still with the Sun. Nothing much is new with me except that the book is finished. I
spent part of the summer going over the manuscript with the editors, the result
of which being we cut about six pages out of one chapter. At present I'm gearing
up to go back to another novel which was half-finished when I quit it to do this
shorter novel on the 'événements'...." On lightweight paper. Creased,
folds, none at signature. Fine condition.
