JAMES M. COLLINS The Texas politician signs his name on this 3½x 2 card Signature: "James M Collins/3rd Dist of Texas" in blue felt. 3½x2 card. James M. Collins (1916-1989), was a Republican who represented the 3rd District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1968-1983. Collins served in WWII under General George S. Patton Jr. during the Battle of the Bulge. He gave up his seat in the U.S. House to challenge the Democratic party of Texas leader Senator Lloyd Bentsen for his seat in the U.S. Senate. Bentsen easily defeated Collins for his third of four terms as senator despite the latter's popularity, effectively ending Collins' political career. Toned. Paperclip impression. Corners rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
