in the film Child's Play.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Ann/Krafthofer/James
Mason". B/w, 10x8. Still from the 1972 film, Child's Play.
©1972, Paramount Pictures. Directed by Sidney Lumet, Child's Play
starred Mason as Jerome Malley, a Professor at an all-boys Catholic boarding
school. The film co-starred Robert Preston, as Malley's rival, Professor
Joseph Dobbs, and Beau Bridges as a new, young teacher at the school who
suspects the mayhem among students is incited by one of his older colleagues.
English actor Mason (1909-1984) earned Oscar nominations for Best
Actor for A Star Is Born (1954) and Best Supporting Actor for Georgy
Girl (1966) and The Verdict (1982). Whether playing Brutus
(Julius Caesar, 1953), a master spy (North By Northwest, 1959) or
a pedophile (Lolita, 1962), Mason could be counted on for a strong
performance. Among his other notable films are Madame Bovary (1949),
The Desert Fox (1951), Prisoner of Zenda (1952) and 20,000
Leagues Under the Sea (1954). Fine condition.
