JAMES MASON
Vintage still from the film A.J. Cronin's Hatter's Castle,
signed by Mason with well wishes
Inscribed photograph signed: "For Harry well wishes James
Mason", Sepia toned 10¼x8. Still from the 1942 (and 1948) film, A.J.
Cronin's Hatter's Castle. English actor Mason (1909-1984)
earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor for A Star Is Born (1954) and
Best Supporting Actor for Georgy Girl (1966) and The Verdict
(1982). Whether playing Brutus (Julius Caesar, 1953), a master spy
(North By Northwest, 1959) or a pedophile (Lolita, 1962), Mason
could be counted on for a strong performance. Among his other notable films are
Madame Bovary (1949), The Desert Fox (1951), Prisoner of
Zenda (1952) and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). Soiled, esp.
heavily on outer margin. Corners worn and heavily creased. Slightly bowed. Ink
notes (unknown hand) on verso. Stains across Mason's face in image. Signature
faded, but legible. Creased throughout. Surface scratches and dents (not seen
head on).
