Mason was to receive the sum of $150,000 for 14 weeks work of filming in Berlin and London. He was to report to Berlin on or before February 19, 1953 to begin work in the film, directed by Sir Carol Reed. Also signed by the President of London Film Productions, Inc. This film, which starred Mason and Claire Bloom, was released as The Man Between in 1953. Political conditions forced director Carol Reed out of Berlin before shooting was completed; the filming was completed in a studio in London. English actor Mason (1909-1984) earned Oscar nominations for Best Actor for A Star Is Born (1954) and Best Supporting Actor for Georgy Girl (1966) and The Verdict (1982). Whether playing Brutus (Julius Caesar, 1953), a master spy (North By Northwest, 1959) or a pedophile (Lolita, 1962), Mason could be counted on for a strong performance. Among his other notable films are Madame Bovary (1949), The Desert Fox (1951), Prisoner of Zenda (1952) and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954). Lightly creased, not at signature.
