Features letterhead from his United States House of Representatives, Washington, District of Columbia office. Dated October 23, 1973. Sent to Mr. J. L. Pruett, the Principal of the Special Education Department in Clute, Texas. In Full: “Thank you for your recent letter concerning your special education class. / I am happy to send you my autograph and a photograph for use in your classroom.” James R. Mann (1920-2010) was a member of the United States House of Representatives for five terms, from 1969-1979. He represented South Carolina's 4th district. A member of the Judiciary Committee, he was part of the recommendation by the body to impeach then-President Richard Nixon. Before his election to state office in 1949, he served in WWII (achieving the rank of colonel) and practiced law. Fine condition.
