Captioned: "The Victor". The photograph's caption likely refers to
Roosevelt's 1954 win as California's U.S. Congressman. James Roosevelt
(1907-1991), the eldest son of President Franklin Roosevelt and Anna Eleanor
Roosevelt, organized an insurance firm in Boston, became a secretary to
his father and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps through WWII
(1940-1945). He later represented California in the U.S. Congress from
1955-1965. After a year as U.S. representative with the U.N. Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization, Roosevelt returned to the private
sector as a public relations consultant. He was married to Betsy Cushing,
daughter of Dr. Harvey Cushing (1930-1940, divorced), Romelle Schneider
(1941-1955, divorced), Gladys Irene Owens (1956-1969, divorced) and Mary Lena
Winskill (1969-1991, his death). Slightly creased, light vertical fold at the
"t" of Roosevelt. Nicked at upper left blank corner, slightly soiled on verso.
