He was married to Betsy Cushing, daughter of Dr. Harvey Cushing (1930-1940, divorced), Romelle Schneider (1941-1955, divorced), Gladys Irene Owens (1956-1969, divorced) and Mary Lena Winskill (1969-1991, his death).
