IOS/Investors Overseas Services to Mr. Danny Franklin, Sunnyslope, Arizona.
In full: "Many thanks for your letter which has been forwarded to me
in Geneva by my brother. I appreciate your very kind wishes and in return would
like you to receive the enclosed photograph with my own good wishes for your
happiness in the new year. Yours sincerely". Photograph not present James
Roosevelt (1907-1991), the eldest son of President Franklin Roosevelt and
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, organized an insurance firm in Boston, became a
secretary to his father and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps through
WWII (1940-1945). He later represented California in the U.S. Congress from
1955-1965. After a year as U.S. representative with the U.N. Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization, Roosevelt returned to the private
sector as a public relations consultant. He was married to Betsy Cushing,
daughter of Dr. Harvey Cushing (1930-1940, divorced), Romelle Schneider
(1941-1955, divorced), Gladys Irene Owens (1956-1969, divorced) and Mary Lena
Winskill (1969-1991, his death). Slightly creased. Fine
condition.
